Of course, he needed a name. You know, something to ignore when you call.
You see, he was picked up off the street, he had no owners, no history,
and no background. All they could tell us was that hes really
fast.
We wanted a good name, one that suited him, and said something about
him.
One day while I watched him shred the bark off my lilac bush, I idly
commented that he was in danger of de-foresting the back-yard.

Well, being Star Trek fans from way back when, and to honor of the recent
passing of DeForest Kelly, the actor who played the good doctor on the
original series, we named him Bones.
I know, it's a dreadful pun.
